Re-establishment, recommissioning, rehabilitation, declining, lateral and vertical development and stope production using longhole methods
Byrnecut started the recommissioning and re-establishment of services at the Capricorn Copper Project (formerly the Mount Gordon Mine) in February 2017, following a change of ownership. Underground mining operations commenced the following month.
The mine is located approximately 120km north of Mount Isa on the Carlton Hill pastoral lease. Access is by 85km of unsealed road followed by 40km of bitumen road to Mount Isa. The project includes 188,000 hectares and contains 28 mining licences, 13 exploration permits and a special lease on which the camp accommodation and facilities are located.
The Capricorn Copper mine consists of multiple ore bodies, each accessed by underground declines.
The Mammoth mine primarily employs longhole open stoping and longitudinal sub-level caving. This method at times is combined with fill varieties, including waste rock fill, cemented rock fill, and paste fill.
The Esperanza South mines employs longitudinal sub-level caving as the primary mining method with 25m sub-levels.
The scope also includes surface road maintenance and ROM feeds.
