Scope
Declining & lateral development, boxhole and raise bore drilling, autonomous loading, haulage and stope production using longhole open stoping methods.

Two separate pit portals - Karari & Whirling Dervish.

Byrnecut was successful in winning the four-year underground mining services contract at Carosue Dam Operations through a competitive open tender process.

Byrnecut operates the projects from a centralised operations base at Carosue Dam, 120km east of Kalgoorlie WA. A modern large scale workshop facility undertakes major and minor maintenance on the collective mining fleet.

New technology and innovation is key at the project. An extensive Sandvik Automine network enables the fleet of LH621i loaders to be operated autonomously from the surface. A dedicated Rhino box-hole drill, truck driver fatigue monitoring and collision avoidance systems also play pivotal roles at the operation.

Access to site is via unsealed roads from Kalgoorlie, and Leonora, with a site airstrip operational since 2019. Personnel currently commute to site on a FIFO basis directly to site, or by road from Kalgoorlie.
