Scope
Site establishment, box-cut support, decline development, shotcrete and raise boring services.
Newmont's Havieron project is located in the remote dune country of WA's Great Sandy Desert.
Newmont's successful relationship with Byrnecut at nearby Telfer and Cadia in NSW saw the company reach out to us once again.
The small surface footprint, fragile environment and temperamental climatic conditions required some out of the box thinking to establish the site and commence the Works. Engagement of the local Martu people is also critical for the project's success. The box cut and decline to the Havieron orebody commenced in February 2021. Total development now exceeds 2,820m including over 2,030m of advance in the main access decline as at 8 October 2023.
Decline operations were suspended in November 2023 and the project placed on care and maintenance whilst Newmont assess the project.
The site is accessed from Newmont's Telfer hub, which is well supported with road freight and air support networks.
