Byrnecut's won the award of the Paddington Gold Underground Mining Contract in September 2020.

Byrnecut secured a four-year underground mining contract with Norton Goldfields for their new Enterprise and Tuart underground mines within the Paddington Gold camp.

The work was secured through an open Tender process under a Schedule of Rates style contract. Works comprise portal excavation, mine development, and long hole stoping with paste fill and cemented rockfill techniques.

Enterprise, at Ora Banda was the first mine to start, with two portals excavated for decline and ventilation access. The Tuart mine, 20km south at Mt Pleasant commenced two months later. The operation is managed by a single management team, with each site having its own workshop and site facilities. Development and production activities steadily ramped up to achieve full production at both mines in 2021.

The mines are accessed from the State’s major mining centre of Kalgoorlie, with the workforce a mixture of local and FIFO personnel. The mining crews reside in town and travel to site each day. The operation works 365 days per year, 24 hours per day and Byrnecut employs over 230 people on the project.
