Byrnecut commenced onsite with initially rehabilitation duties, and has now begun development and production activities.

The Wiluna operations has a rich mining history over the last two centuries from its first discovery in 1897. Byrnecut is proud to be involved with the rebirth of this historic gold mining precinct.

The Wiluna operations, with which Byrnecut is involved, comprises the Happy Jack, Bulletin and Golden Age lodes. These mining areas are accessed from three separate open pits. Byrnecut is engaged in a complete underground mining service. Dewatering and rehabilitation programme of the old decline is ongoing along with new decline excavation and replacement of the mine infrastructure.

Production from multiple lodes and portals has commenced and is in the process of ramping up.

The mine employs an uphole stoping method, with ore extracted using autonomously guided remote controlled loaders. Given the selection of Caterpillar loaders on this operation, an autonomous guidance system will be used on the project.

The project is operating under an Alliance style contract.

The Wiluna mine is quite remote with access via sealed and unsealed roads. The contract is operated 365 days per year, 24 hours per day. Production will Increase over 2022 with an anticipated workforce of almost 200 people, working on a fly-in, fly-out roster from Perth.
