Decline and Lateral Development, Shotcrete & Cable Bolting
Thanks to Telfer’s proven, safe and trusted performance, Alliance partners Newcrest Mining and Byrnecut have teamed up once again for a new mining contract at the Cadia Valley Operations.
With the planned development of a new block cave lift at Newcrest’s Cadia East Mine, the company began looking for a reliable partner to share the workload.
Byrnecut, together with our ground support specialist sibling, Jetcrete, is undertaking underground mine development and ground support installation, using a mixed fleet of company and contractor-supplied equipment.
The Cadia Valley Operations, 25km south-west of Orange in central NSW, is one of Australia’s largest underground gold mines. Intensive ground support regimes, including the in-cycle requirements of cable bolting and shotcreting, present a challenging environment under which the contractor and company excavation crews, together with our ground support specialists, will work together to bring the next block cave panel into production.
The mine is well accessed by sealed roads from the regional centre of Orange, with the workforce a mix of local and fly-in fly-out personnel. The operation works 365 days per year, 24 hours per day, and Byrnecut will eventually employ 148 people on the project.
